Supporting creative professionals in 2021: An update from our Founder, Susan J Mumford

Hello hello —

We’ve commenced a new year unlike any other, and I’m glad to announce that Be Smart About Art, after nine years of existence, has a plan to support talented art professionals – mostly those running your own businesses (think: artists, gallerists) no matter what happens in 2021.

Our program that has been designed to support you, at whatever stage of career (noting that we believe in life-long learning and value ‘reverse mentoring’) has at its core:

Membership (ongoing); #ArtBizBootcamp (8 months woo-hoo!) and one-time resources to purchase and download (artist-gallerist contract template, workshops on artist-gallery relationship, pricing, selling and more).

The Member Meet-Up is set to be a fixture throughout the year, hosted by yours truly (unless anything unexpected happens, in which case someone will step in on my behalf – hello ‘Plan B’!). I will be facilitating this conversation that provides camaraderie, industry development insights and career development support.

This takes place every Friday [at 9am Pacific / 12pm Eastern / 5pm UK / 6pm Central Europe] – please save the date as an ongoing fixture! These conversations are not recorded, so you need to attend LIVE to get the experience. This format enables open and honest conversation with assurance of confidentiality.

NEW to the program is a monthly workshop for Members only. This will be a one-hour session that typically takes place on the last Monday of the month. This will be led by yours truly, enabling me to take a deep dive into areas that are important for your development based on my observations of the latest in the art market.

The next members’ workshop is therefore on Monday 25th January @ 5pm UK and the focus is your BRAND identity and positioning.

The #ArtBizBootcamp 2021 will be released by the end of January and is a separate program to Patreon membership. This will be available to join at any time and is run over an 8-month period. This includes 8 x modules (each with a 1-1.5 hr video workshop and workbook), 4 x masterclasses (1 hr video workshop) and a monthly LIVE session with yours truly, so that you can ask your burning questions about the art world, business and technology. BOOM!

#ArtBizBootcamp graduates will receive complimentary access to the modules as course attendance, as you might recall, provides lifetime access to core content each time the course is run.
